HotSchedules Co-Founder and Chief Customer Officer David Cantu was recently featured in FastCasual.com ’s C-Speak video series, discussing how labor management technology can drive the future of the restaurant industry.
FastCasual interviewed Cantu alongside Steve Erickson, President of PDQ (People Dedicated to Quality), the fast-casual brand based out of Tampa, Fla.
Founded in 2011, PDQ has more than 50 locations and is a proud HotSchedules customer that uses the following solutions:
- HotSchedules Train: Powered by Schoox
- HotSchedules Logbook
Erickson said PDQ focused on investing in its culture, its brand and its employees, right from the start.
“I want this to be a great job for them, I want them to have fun at this job, I want them to enjoy and grow up at this job if they can,” he said. “That’s the plan.”
Using technology to facilitate communication and get managers back into the front of the house is an important part of that culture, Cantu said.
“Our focus is to ensure that almost everything is mobile enabled,” Cantu said. “Managers are busy—they don’t have time to go to the back office,” Cantu said. “We want to get them out of the back office into the front of the house, where they’re focusing on people and quality… We look at it as hospitality unbound.”
