Honor Given After Employees Deem HotSchedules One of the 85 Best Places to Work in Austin
(November 2011) Austin, TX ¬— It’s hot off the press: Employees of HotSchedules, the restaurant and hospitality industries’ top authority for web-based labor-management needs, have long known the company is a great place to work, and now all of Central Texas knows it too. HotSchedules has been named one of the Top Workplaces in the greater Austin area by the Austin American-Statesman newspaper, a list that highlights the best places to work in Central Texas.
The Austin American-Statesman’s Top Workplaces of 2011 were selected following an employee survey. Only companies that employees deem the best places to work receive a coveted spot on the Top Workplaces list, and are named in a special section of the newspaper and online at www.Statesman.com. Companies named Top Workplaces provide more than great perks; they are small, medium and large businesses at which employees can contribute, give their best and be part of something meaningful. Top Workplaces are more innovative, operate more ethically and serve customers better — a description that fits HotSchedules perfectly. Top Workplaces’ 24-question employee survey, conducted by WorkplaceDynamics LLC, asked HotSchedules’ employees their opinions about six important workplace areas: company direction, execution, career opportunities, workplace atmosphere and environment, quality of management, and pay and benefits.
Of the 597 companies nominated, 143 businesses were surveyed, and HotSchedules was one of only 85 companies to be named a Top Workplace.
“We are thrilled to be named one of the Austin American-Statesman’s Top Workplaces for 2011, and attribute this to the satisfaction of our employees — our most valued asset,” says Ray Pawlikowski, Co-Founder and CEO of HotSchedules. “We will continue to emphasize employee well-being and contentment as part of our company culture, and will work to maintain our position as one of Austin’s Top Workplaces.”
Also highlighted as part of a recent CNN Money news story and named one of the Austin Business Journal’s 2011 Best Places to Work, HotSchedules takes an innovative approach to company culture and stresses its core values of family, fun, service, humility and creativity. HotSchedules emphasizes a welcoming, home-like atmosphere for its employees, and acknowledges that workers are more likely to create a better work product when afforded flexibility and a good work/life balance from their employer. Employees have access to a generous lunch plan and a well-stocked snack bar, participate in ping-pong tournaments, are encouraged to relax in an oversized massage chair when stressed, are not required to adhere to a dress code, and are afforded a flexible vacation policy that allows employees to work with their managers to define their individual vacation needs.
In conjunction with being named a Top Workplace for 2011, HotSchedules will be featured in an editorial piece in the Nov. 17 issue of the Austin American-Statesman.
