As we cook up new features in HotSchedules, we like to go on location and talk to customers to share our planned releases, get their opinions and check out how they use the application on the job. This type of usability testing is also a great opportunity to share tips with managers on how they can work faster – not harder. So since we can’t get around to all 120,000 HotSchedules locations – we thought we would start sharing our ‘Tips’ of the Trade right here on the blog. Read on to learn more!

Do You Use Smart Select?

It’s a handy shortcut that managers like to use when scheduling a house shift. By pressing ‘S,’ a simple keyboard shortcut, you will be presented with a pop-up screen displaying a list of the employees that are available to work that shift. You can even set it up to show your preference based on current weekly hours, the cost of the shift and skill level of the employees. By pressing the shortcut ‘T,’ you can accomplish the same for an assigned shift. Give it a try the next time you need to fill a shift – it’s the smart way to schedule!

Speaking of New Features…

We are in the final stages of the Scheduling tab redesign inside HotSchedules. Just like Smart Select, this upcoming release will allow you to accomplish more tasks in one screen, eliminating unnecessary clicks and saving you time. Here’s a sneak peek at the simplified way you will be able to drag and drop shifts from one timeslot to another.

Stay tuned to the blog as we will offer more sneak peeks leading up to the highly anticipated April release of our improved Scheduling functionality.
