There’s a reason why HotSchedules won the Austin American-Statesman’s Top Workplaces award two years in a row. It is in large part due to the dedication of HotSchedules’ Torch Team, whose current members are Scott Adams, Kyle Albright, Crystal Flemming, Gabriel Pryor, and Justin Trojacek. The role of our Torch Team is protect and maintain the cool, hip, funky, fun HotSchedules culture as we grow. This is done by planning various team building activities, contests, and charitable events, as well as lending an ear when a Hottie – what we call all HotSchedules team members – is having a tough day.

Justin, Customer Care Supervisor for HotSchedules explains, “The Torch Team members are like the guardians of the HotSchedules’ fire. You can see that fire on the face of everyone here, from when they come into work on Monday morning to when they leave on Friday afternoon. Being a part of the Torch Team means we get to find ways to show each team member how much we appreciate them for the difference they make every day. It’s an awesome addition to my regular work!”

The most recent event the Torch Team planned was a pancake breakfast to thank all the Hotties for their continued great work and dedication. Other fun events include Thirsty Thursdays (happy hours), board game nights, and celebrating Hotties special occasions such as birthdays and personal accomplishments – and much more! Scott, our Internal Development Manager’s favorite event was a Chips n’ Dip contest. He explains, “People brought in their homemade salsas and dips where we all taste tested each entry and voted on our favorites. We also used this event to collect monetary donations and give to the Capital Area Food Banks disaster relief fund for the people of West, TX when the factory explosion occurred.” Crystal, our Customer Success Manager’s favorite event is HotHope, HotSchedules’ annual give-back event. She says, “I continue to be amazed each year by the kind and giving souls that we all work alongside each day. Our team comes together, raises funds for the homeless, and takes time out of their busy holiday calendars to make a difference in our community.”

Some future events and projects that the Torch Team are working on include a dessert cook-off, developing a main philanthropy for HotSchedules to support, and a health and fitness competition called HotFit. Gabriel, IT Project Manager/Release Manager states, “We are looking forward to our next HotFit!“ He added, with a smirk, “It’s about time we pick up some new Xbox games!” Additionally, the Torch Team will continue to produce events that promote employee recognition and team spirit, as well as healthy activities for Hotties during work breaks.

The Torch Team is an integral part of HotSchedules, and enjoys the full support of the leadership team, which may, in fact, be the true secret to their success. When asked what they like most about being a Torch Team Hottie, Kyle, HotSchedules’ Product Ambassador says, “I get to make people smile while feeling like I’m part of a family.“ Crystal concludes, “The Torch Team will continue to be an important driving force as we grow. We need to keep our small family feel and acknowledge those who live by our core values each day.”
