Customers support brand and take their talent to a whole new level with inspired submissions

HotSchedules is please to announce the winners of its 2014 Video Contest The winners are listed on the HotSchedules website and YouTube Channel. Videos were submitted by HotSchedules customers who depend on the mobile tool to access their schedules, swap and trade shifts, and communicate with their coworkers and managers.

“This is the fifth year we’ve held the contest,” said Mary Kay Hyde, Senior Director of Marketing at Red Book Connect. “It’s the biggest compliment to our product when our customers are passionate enough to create videos showing how their lives are better because of HotSchedules.”

Entries were judged by HotSchedules employees who were both amazed and amused by the crowd-sourced content. “Our offices get really excited to see what our customers come up with,” Hyde added.

Many of the videos demonstrated the difference between restaurants that use HotSchedules and those without the scheduling tool and what that would be like for those employees and managers.

One of the winning videos followed an out-of-touch manager who can’t seem to handle the flood of time-off requests and shift changes. “Some people say my methods are a bit questionable,” he says right before the scene flips to a hostess clasping her menu and sobbing.

Another submission titled “Panic Attack Patsy” captured the hysterical craziness that ensues when restaurant managers become addicted to scheduling. “My name is Patsy and I’m addicted to scheduling,” she says in the opening scene, followed by her best friend Cassie who adds, “I started realizing how serious her problem was when I found her sleeping with a calendar underneath her pillow.”

Other videos spoofed cult favorites like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and the recent hit Pretty Little Liars.

“We created HotSchedules to make restaurant managers’ and employees’ lives easier,” said David Cantu, co-founder of HotSchedules and Chief Revenue Officer at Red Book Connect. “We are really amazed by the videos that come through – the time and effort and creativity that goes into each one is truly humbling.”

THE WINNERS

The Grand Prize was given to Jennifer Mihalyi recently with the restaurant Beach Chalet in San Francisco, Calif. for her video simply titled HotSchedules.

Jonathan Banks with Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen in Chicago, Ill. took second place for his video Life with HotSchedules.

Third place went to Adriana Franco with P.F. Changs in Petaluma, Calif. for her video Boris. Winning fourth through tenth places were:

Paul Beauchamp with Carraba’s for his video Bruce and Himself: A Not So HotSchedules Story
Holly Nordquist with Flemmings Chicago for her video Panic Attack Patsy

One of the hardest parts about the contest is the difficulty of choosing the top 10. There are so many fantastic efforts and we thank each and every person that submitted a video to us. If you didn’t win this year, try again next year!!
