Our Co-Founders, Ray Pawlikowski and David Cantu came up with the idea for HotSchedules while working at PF Chang’s together. Ray was the bartender and David was the manager. When a college project had Ray building a web site, he decided to use it to address one of the restaurant’s primary pain points – communicating the employee schedule. Managers and staff alike quickly fell in love with the improved access to scheduling info, and the significant reduction in calls to the store and managers to get schedule information. The online employee schedule was a huge hit, and when the class ended and the site came down, everyone wailed.
Ray and David quickly realized they had an idea with enormous potential, created a business plan and incorporated HotSchedules in 1999. They were excited, passionate and committed to developing solutions that helped restaurants be more productive and efficient. They set out to build a portfolio of solutions to deliver on that commitment and went to work finding the right team to get the application into production.
Key executives Casey Clinkenbeard and Matt Woodings were brought on to manage the software development and datacenter infrastructure, respectively. Justin Buckley was recruited to hire and manage a best-in-class customer care team.
